We are excited to announce that we have been awarded $625,000 in NH Community Development Finance Authority (NHCDFA) Tax Credits to support our capital project, which will expand housing, childcare, and family support services for mothers and children experiencing homelessness in Greater Nashua.

This award also presents an opportunity for NH businesses to make a generous contribution to the capital project while receiving state tax credits in return.

What are NHCDFA Tax Credits?

The Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) Tax Credit Program is a statewide initiative that encourages businesses to invest in projects and organizations that strengthen and serve NH communities. Through the program, eligible businesses can make a contribution to approved nonprofit projects and receive a state tax credit equal to 75% of their donation.

For example, a business that contributes $100,000 to an approved project may receive $75,000 in NH tax credits while also potentially qualifying for federal charitable tax deductions, depending on its individual tax requirements. *

*Businesses should consult their tax advisors regarding their specific circumstances and eligibility.

Building a Place for Possibility

The tax credit allocation awarded to Marguerite’s Place will help transform a vacant property in downtown Nashua into a place where families can heal from trauma and move from crisis to long-term stability and success.

The project will:

  • Create 15 additional transitional housing apartments for mothers and children who have experienced homelessness or domestic violence.
  • Expand our capacity to serve 35 families with safe, stable housing and wraparound support.
  • Establish a Family Resource Center where resident families and community members can access coaching, education, and connections.
  • Centralize our early childhood education program into one location.
  • Add 20 to 25 new affordable childcare openings each year, helping more children thrive while their parents pursue employment and/or education.

By expanding both housing and childcare, this project addresses two of the greatest barriers families face on the path to independence in NH.

Why This Matters

For more than 30 years, Marguerite’s Place has partnered with families as they work toward stability, healing, and self-sufficiency. Every apartment represents a family finding safety. Every childcare opening represents a parent with the opportunity to work, attend school, or build financial security. Every connection made through the Family Resource Center strengthens the fabric of our community.

The NHCDFA Tax Credit Program allows businesses to be part of that transformation in a powerful and financially strategic way.
